Playing in Chrome, at dinner time, and maybe already a bit at second snack time, the physics just seem to break down. The game slows to a crawl, but it seems like different components of the game don't slow down in sync. Things that shouldn't really be possible start happening, like projectiles bouncing off nothing while chunks hang still in the air.
Thanks for playing and for the feedback, really happy to see someone make it that far!
Sorry about the performance issues - I'm aware of these issues and will get around to them as soon as I can :)
getting stuck here and i'm not sure what i am meant to do
Sorry for the confusion! You have to press spacebar in order to start firing. I've added control info onto the page for now.
Let me know if you run into any other issues, will make this more clear in the future!
EDIT: The firing mechanic has changed quite a bit so spacebar is no longer used, it's now the left and right click of the mouse.
I had the same confusion – it would be good if you put the word “space” on it or showed a ghost of the rest of a keyboard around it.
Also, I can’t get it to work. If I’m not fullscreen, space scrolls down the page. If I am fullscreen, nothing happens.
(Also something appears to be leaking memory like crazy even though nothing has happened yet…)
Thank you for the helpful feedback! I will definitely do that if I stay with this default control scheme.
If you click once within the game window to focus it that issue should go away.
What are the symptoms of a memory leak on your end? If there's substantial lag one issue is having the hardware acceleration setting in your browser turned off. Will look into the possible memory leak as well though.
Clicking in the game to focus didn’t work in Chrome. I was able to get it to work in Firefox.
The memory or performance issue when in chrome happened when I tried going back to the main menu from the game when stuck at the space bar bit from the tutorial. The screen was just the dark blue background with no menu items and my computer’s fan spun up like crazy and eventually Chrome began asking if I wanted to kill the page or wait it out.
Ah darn, I'll likely switch to mouse by default when I rework the mechanic so that should help.
Thank you for the detailed info about the performance issue, that helps a ton, will investigate :)
